The Regatta is run entirely by volunteers and relies on the generosity of others through fundraising, sponsorship and donations.

We are extremely grateful to our Sponsors and Key Supporters who make generous donations each year to support our causes, our events and our raffle.

This year our fundraising events and activities will support 3 local organisations providing both opportunities and support for locals and visitors alike.

Hydro

Welsh Adaptive enables people of all disabilities to experience the thrill of surfing making, for what many thought was impossible , possible. Events are run by Llywelyn ‘Sponge’ Williams and his partner Sarah Gibbons and it’s the first of it’s kind in North Wales.

Sponge lost his leg in a car accident in 2011 and is now a two time ISA World Para-Surfing Champion (2022 & 2023) and surfing remains his therapy. Having witnessed the growing popularity of disabled surfing they were compelled to create this venture and the first’ disability surfing day’ was held in 2021 at Porth Neigwl/Hell’s Mouth. Such days are currently restricted to a handful of days a year and by raising much needed funds, to train local instructors and purchase specialist surfing & accessibility equipment, we can ensure more days are available and to all types of disabilities.

Their mantra is to ‘create new experiences, lifetime memories and wave after wave of big smiles’

Hydro

Hydro, the Abersoch based sailing & watercraft school, with initial funding from the Regatta Committee, have introduced a dedicated 8 week course of sailing tuition for 5 local school children and we are keen to extend this to more children alongside further developing the skillset of the initial apprentice sailors.

Abersoch has a long and enviable sailing history and confidence on the water will encourage local girls and boys to partake in yacht & dinghy racing, crew the lifeboat or perhaps go on to a career at sea.

Abersoch Regatta has longstanding close links with Abersoch Lifeboat Station with a number of past & present Committee members and their families serving as crew and/or fundraisers.

Abersoch Lifeboat Station was established in the village in 1869 and the Regatta, throughout its history,  has supported  the work of this institution . Abersoch Lifeboat station remains a close partner of the Regatta and its events.
